day 101: do the hustle
at
10:57 PM
01.21.10 - i had a meeting near columbus circle this afternoon so i decided to have lunch with a friend at the time warner center. from the second level is a great view of of the escalators going down to the whole foods market, the loop with columbus' statue, and central park south. it always amazes me when i can take a step back and look at all the hustle and bustle of the city. we look like a bunch of busy worker ants.

I love the first photograph, very abstract. I love the fact that the person in the centre is in focus and the rest of the photograph is increasily out of focus.
ReplyDeleteUnusual point of view for the second, I like the rich colour of the taxis.

I loved how the top and bottom edges of the image have a soft focus. Was that done in photoshop? -JB
ReplyDeleteWe don't only look like we're worker-ants, but in the world we are in at this moment, we are worker-ants.
ReplyDeleteI do that most of the time, step back and watch the world around me. If you do that, you will see things others don't get to see.
Love the shot from the hall..
@Si - i didn't even notice that person! good eye. the second photo was taken from the hip. literally. i was holding the iPhone and kept pressing the little camera icon as i was walking. this was the one that came out the best.
ReplyDelete@Jason - no i used an iPhone app called TiltShiftGen. this is actually something you can do with a special lens on a dslr/slr camera. these days though a lot of folks (me included) do a "miniature faking" with photoshop and other apps.
@hassan - very true, my friend, very true. =)
